Abstract Engine

At a time of dramatic change in society, what can we do as a team whose job is to invent and create, and turn ideas into reality by implementing them in society? We want to respond to this crucial question not through thought but through action.

Our aim is to create a bigger wave in society through our actions than ever before. To help us achieve this aim, from January 31, 2021, Rhizomatiks Co., Ltd. will be reborn as Abstract Engine. Our mission is to use our philosophy to create things and experiences—from the micro to the macro, together with diverse perspectives—and implement them thoughtfully in society. We want to make our ideas a reality across a wide diversity of fields, without being confined within the borders of art and design.

An engine to drive society

founded in 2006, rhizomatiks has explored pioneering forms of expression that are ahead of the times in the fields of art, advertising, and entertainment. over the course of numerous projects and collaborations, rhizomatiks has continually widened the sphere of its activities, and in 2016 we marked ten years since the company’s founding by launching three divisions: research, architecture, and design. since then, we have developed ambitious projects that have further refined our expertise in these areas, and have been rewarded by a succession of opportunities to implement our creative ideas in society

In 2020, at a time when the overall philosophical direction has been lost amid the dramatic upheavals of contemporary society, we want to act as a powerful engine that will bring new energy and vitality to society. To reflect this aim, we have changed the name of the company to Abstract Engine and established two teams within it: Rhizomatiks and Panoramatiks. We have also established Flowplateaux as an associated company.
Within this new company structure, we will continue to develop and try out new ideas and implement them in society, with the aim of making the world more interesting and fun.
